Dr. Keane was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. In 1994, Dr. Keane moved to Arizona to pursue a career in writing. He instead was drawn into the field of education and policy, at first working at Arizona State University and receiving a master’s degree in higher education. Dr. Keane later served on the research staff for the Arizona State Senate and then briefly as a lobbyist for Arizona’s cities and towns. An interest in traditional Chinese medicine, nutrition and other health related activities eventually led him to leave public policy to attend medical school.

Since completing residency, he obtained a second certification in integrative holistic medicine and extensive training and experience in osteopathic manipulative treatment. He has worked in the in-patient and outpatient medical environments and has participated with several professional organizations including the Arizona Chapter of the American College of Physicians, the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association and others.
