Dr. Michael Lokale came to the United States from his native Kenya a little over two decades ago to attend the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) on a Track and Field scholarship. After VMI, he earned an opportunity to further his education at the University of Oxford in England on a Rhodes Scholarship where he earned a master’s degree in Cardiac Physiology. After Oxford, he returned to the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine where he spent a year doing research on atherosclerosis before enrolling at the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg. He finished his residency in Family and Community Medicine in Tucson at the University of Arizona in 2013 and is now based in Oro Valley where he takes care of the youngest young and the oldest old. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Site Director for Banner University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He continues to be a preceptor for medical students from the University of Arizona and AZCOM. He currently serves on the AOMA’s Board of Trustees as the Treasurer / Secretary.
