Raine Richards, JD, is the Senior Director of State Government Affairs for the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). In this role, she oversees the AOA’s state-level policy and advocacy initiatives. In conjunction with federal public policy staff, she develops the annual advocacy agenda and works with affiliate organizations to develop unified responses to state legislative and regulatory proposals that could impact the osteopathic medical profession.
As Secretary to the AOA’s Council on State Health Affairs, Raine helps the Council create new policy on emerging state issues and drafts letters and grassroots campaigns to enhance the voice of the osteopathic medical community at the state level. She also acts as the staff liaison to the American Association of Osteopathic Examiners, which represents all osteopathic physicians who sit on state medical licensing boards and helps respond to issues related to physician licensure and discipline.
Raine has been with the AOA for over six years; prior to that she was an attorney at the Cook
County Treasurer’s Office in Chicago, Illinois. She received a JD from the University of Michigan Law School and a BA in Spanish from Emory University.
