The Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

The AOMA designates this program for a maximum of 18.0 hours of AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

AOMA Annual Fall Seminar Cancellation Policy: All requests for refunds must be in writing and received by September 27, 2023. A $50 processing fee will be deducted from the registration fee. Refunds will not be available after September 27, 2023. A credit for a future CME event may be issued.

Dr. Nimit Agarwal is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona. He is the inaugural director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine, the program director for the Geriatric Medicine fellowship and the current president of Arizona Geriatrics Society.

Dr. Agarwal is a clinician, educator, researcher, and innovator. Since finishing his fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, in Maywood, IL he has been instrumental in the development of clinical and operational efficiencies in ambulatory and inpatient systems specially focused on older adults.

He has established innovative models of care by leveraging the capabilities of the Electronic Health Record to create smart protocols that can assist with identifying gaps in care related to delirium identification, mobility challenges and markers of increased complications during hospitalization of older adults at his organization. Under his leadership, Banner University Medical Center is proud to be a Geriatric Emergency Department and an Age Friendly Health Systems Care Excellence organization.

Dr Agarwal is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration at the Eller College of Management with University of Arizona. His current work includes developing a patented AI software for the care of hospitalized adults. His goal is to enable organizations to incorporate geriatric medicine practice in all domains of care.

Dr. Andrew Chung is a dual-fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon. He earned his osteopathic Degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his orthopedic internship at the University of Arizona – Phoenix. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. This was followed by a combined neurosurgical and orthopedic spine fellowship at the University of Southern California. Dr. Devine comes from a family of osteopathic physicians, and in medical school expanded his interests in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). He is nationally and internationally respected as a lecturer and author of topics in OMM. His skills and interests were enhanced early from his experiences while serving as a USAF MC physician with his last duty station at Luke AFB, Arizona under the Tactical Air Command (Vietnam War).

As president of the Arizona Academy of Osteopathy he brought many programs to medical students, residents and practicing physicians. Dr. Fahim Habib graduated from the General Surgery residency program at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. Following residency, he did a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, Florida, then stayed on as faculty in the Department of Surgery at the University of Miami participating in patient care, teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students in addition to clinical research. Dr. Kafer is a native Arizonan, she attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree, Arizona State University for a Master's in Social Work and Midwestern University AZCOM for her osteopathic degree.  She started working for what was then called Maricopa Integrated Health System (now Valleywise) as a social worker in 1999 in the involuntary inpatient psychiatric units.  After medical school, she returned there for residency and stayed on as an attending, first in the inpatient units, then transitioning to outpatient settings.  She is currently the outpatient psychiatrist at Valleywise's McDowell Clinic which provides care for people living w HIV, PrEP, and gender affirming care.

Dr. Keane was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. In 1994, Dr. Keane moved to Arizona to pursue a career in writing. He instead was drawn into the field of education and policy, at first working at Arizona State University and receiving a master’s degree in higher education. Dr. Keane later served on the research staff for the Arizona State Senate and then briefly as a lobbyist for Arizona’s cities and towns. An interest in traditional Chinese medicine, nutrition and other health related activities eventually led him to leave public policy to attend medical school.

Dr. Keane graduated from Midwestern University in Glendale, Ariz. and completed an internal medicine residency in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Since completing residency, he obtained a second certification in integrative holistic medicine and extensive training and experience in osteopathic manipulative treatment. He has worked in the in-patient and outpatient medical environments and has participated with several professional organizations including the Arizona Chapter of the American College of Physicians, the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association and others.

Dr. Kemper is past President of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association, serving now as the Chair of the Professional Education Committee.  She graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1981, is Board Certified in Family Practice and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.  She has worked for Midwestern University for the past 13 years, serving as the Dean of the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) since 2007.  

Dr. Kemper has practiced as a family physician since 1982, starting her career with the National Health Service Corps, providing care for the underserved population in South Phoenix.  She also served as Director of Medical Education and Family Medicine Residency Program Director for Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital from 1993 to 2007.  In addition, she served as the Chief of Staff at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital from 2005 to 2007.

Lovecchio is the author of more than 200 peer review articles and has given lectures in over 20 countries.

Dr. LoVecchio is also a site investigator on seven NIH grants awarded through the Emergency Medicine Network (EMNet), including grants for work on Influenza screening. Dr. LoVecchio is experienced in the conduct of research protocols in the emergency department. Currently, Dr. LoVecchio is performing research about drug development, drugs of abuse, COVID-19, infectious diseases, and environmental illness.

Jeffrey Morgan, DO, EdD, MA, FACOI, is a general internist and Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He provided primary care medicine in Arizona for 18 years prior to joining ATSU-SOMA in July 2013 as associate professor of internal medicine and public health. He subsequently served as chair of Clinical Science Education, Chair of the Student (Academic) Performance Committee, acting director of the Clinical Education Department, and acting dean, prior to being named dean in January 2016. Dr. Morgan served as dean until 2021 at which time he transitioned back to clinical medicine with the Evernorth Care Group (formerly Cigna Medical Group).

He is a graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, past president of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA), and currently serves as Speaker of the House of Delegates for the same association. Dr. Morgan served on the board of trustees of the Mutual Insurance Company of Arizona from 2004 to 2021, has been an active member as a delegate to the AOA House of Delegates and is a graduate of both the Osteopathic Heritage Health Policy Fellowship and Midwestern University’s Master of Arts in bioethics programs. Dr. Mohan Tanniru is the Adjunct Professor in the Department of Public Health Practice, Policy & Translational Research in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, U of Arizona, and a senior investigator in the Global Health Initiative at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Canada to study Indigenous Health between September – December 2022 and is an emeritus professor of MIS of Oakland University. He taught at the University of Arizona, Oakland University, Syracuse University, and University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was the former Dean of the School of Business and the Department Head of MIS at University of Arizona. His research includes decision support, IT strategy, systems and service modeling, and digital and population health. He has published over 110 research articles and recent publications appeared in Health Policy and Technology, J of Patient Satisfaction, J of Healthcare Management and J of Healthcare Administration. He worked at William Beaumont, St. Joseph Mercy Health System, Henry Ford Health Systems in Michigan.

Dr Harry “Skip” Watters has a long career in Healthcare. First as a Registered Pharmacist with a Masters in Public Health from  the University of Illinois  and entering Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine for his DO degree. He completed his first residency in OB/Gyn at Penn State University and a second Residency in Occupational Medicine/Preventive Medicine at the University of Arizona.

During his career he has been the Principal Investigator on over 15 Phase 3 Clinical Trials and has mentored osteopathic medical students, nurse practitioners and Residents. He has performed over 5000 major gyn surgeries and delivered thousands of children in Arizona . He is a past recipient of the AOMA Humanitarian Award for his community service.

In 2008 he was recruited by Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to be the first Tactical Surgeon for the SWAT Team. He attended SWAT School and the International School of Tactical Medicine in California and participated in over 300 callouts. He transitioned to Mens Health and Hormone Replacement  after caring for numerous First Responders and today operated Advanced Mens Performance Center in Chandler AZ.

He serves on the Board of The Recovery Café (an outpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center) and the Pastoral Care Council which trains and provides Chaplains to Hospitals.

He has been a Board member and President of the FBI Citizens Academy and the US Marshals Posse.

His interests include the Clinical Practice of Medicine, Community Service and his Family.

Dr. Watters will discuss the off-label use of clomid for men.
