Dr. Abbott is a board-certified Internist and pediatrician practicing hospital medicine at Northern Arizona Healthcare. A graduate of A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, Dr. Abbott earned a Master of Public Health at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine during medical school. He completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a past president of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association. John Ashurst DO, EdD, MS currently serves as the assistant designated institutional official at Kingman Regional Medical Center and as a clinical assistant professor at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, he has completed numerous research projects on the treatment of COVID-19 and has spoken at both the national and international level on new and emerging treatment strategies with a focus on those in either underserved or rural areas. Currently he teaches evidence-based medicine throughout the valley and has a research interest in osteopathic techniques for the treatment of lymphedema and COVID-19.
Dr. Bertsch is a board-certified psychiatrist and the Vice President of Medical Affairs for The NARBHA Institute, a not-for-profit foundation. Since 2018, she has also been the Chief Medical Officer for NARBHA’s affiliate, The Guidance Center, a psychiatric hospital and behavioral health center in Flagstaff, AZ. Since 1992, she has served on numerous state-wide committees developing clinical initiatives, services and treatment priorities for Arizona Medicaid and state-funded behavioral health services and has presented nationally on clinical initiatives and integrated care programs. In 2015 she received the Arizona State Behavioral Health Leadership in Services Award from Arizona State University for designing and delivering innovative behavioral health care systems and for a lifelong dedication to public service. Dr. Bertsch received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Stanford University, and completed medical school at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, and psychiatry residency at University of New Mexico School of Medicine where she was Chief Resident.

Dr. Rachel Christopherson is a 3rd year family medicine resident physician who has spent the last 2 years practicing medicine. She graduated with honors from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, after which she started her residency in Family Medicine at Family & Community Medicine Residency Program at North Country HealthCare in Flagstaff, AZ. Sarah Coles, MD, FAAFP, is the program director for the Colorado Plateau Family and Community Medicine Residency at North Country Healthcare and assistant professor in the Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and completed her residency at Banner Good Samaritan Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Coles has expertise in evidence-based medicine, interprofessional collaborative team-based care, medical education, and population health.

Originally from Phoenix, Dr Adam Dawson is sometimes known as the "Scorpion Doctor". He completed his residency training in Kingman, AZ then stayed in Kingman transitioning into roles as core faculty and the Emergency Department Medical Director. He loves caring for patients and loves teaching. He is humbled to have been named the residency program's 2018 Student Educator of the Year and the hospital's 2020 Physician of the Year. He loves spending time with his wife Allyssa and their five children.
Dr. William Devine has always had an interest in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). He comes from a family of osteopathic physicians, including his father and two uncles. He was born at the maternity hospital on the campus at Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine where he delivered his first as a medical student. After osteopathic medical school he expanded his interests in osteopathic manual medicine along with interests in medical education, medical history, medical research, and medical health policy. He integrated osteopathic concepts and philosophy into his present osteopathic manual medicine practice as it relates to Osteopathy. He is nationally and internationally known and respected as a lecturer and author of topics in osteopathic manipulative medicine.
He left his active osteopathic family practice 1996, to become one of the original founders of the new Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine campus and served for 26 years achieving the rank of Clinical Professor. At MWU and presently he continues postgraduate osteopathic teaching and a private practice He has presented at workshops, keynote presentations at the AzAO, AAO, AOMA and internationally in the UK, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Turkiye, Denmark and Norway. He has been honored with many awards over the years for his service to osteopathic medicine and teaching with the most prestigious Andrew Taylor Still Medallion of Honor Award conferred by the American Academy of Osteopathy in 2025.
Today he is recognized by many medical organizations nationally and internationally in his medical specialty of Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM and OMM). He has co-authored two textbooks on Clinical Counterstrain Osteopathic Manipulation and has written and coauthored chapters in five medical textbooks, and many research papers. He has presented nationally and internationally with keynote addresses, workshops, and lectures. He is board certified in family medicine and OMT, as well as neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine. He had Fellowship training at the Research Center in Fort Worth, Texas. His private practice in now is focused on neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine.
And he continues to teach post graduate medical education as a Clinical Professor at Midwestern University, Arizona Post Graduate Medical Education program and he teaches at ATSU SOMA, as faculty in the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and continues to teach at state, national and international presentations.
Muftah Mahmud, MD, is a dedicated and enthusiastic final year internal medicine resident with profound passion for hospital medicine. Throughout his medical journey, Dr. Mahmud has exhibited relentless commitment to patient care and genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of the patients he treats.

Dr. Miran Song graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from Albany Medical College after which she completed her Pediatric Residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. She was chosen as a National Health Service Corps Scholar and did her service at the Kayenta Indian Health Service Clinic on the Navajo Reservation. She continued her work on the Navajo Reservation in Tuba City doing outpatient, inpatient and Level II Nursery care. Dr. Song gained a wealth of medical and culture knowledge while working on the Navajo Reservation for 16 years.
In 2015, she began working at North Country HealthCare, a Federally Qualified Health Center, where she continues to serve a diverse pediatric population of underserved children. Dr. Song has maintained a love for public health, especially for children and families in need. Dr Song specializes in Navajo/Hopi specific illnesses and complex special needs children.
Dr. Song is an elected member of the AZAAP which advocates for the health and medical rights of the children of AZ.

Dr. Stiegler is a 5th generation Arizona native who completed her medical training at Midwestern University College of Medicine in 2006. Dr. Stiegler had the opportunity to participate in a pre-doctoral teaching fellowship in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and continues to utilize hands-on techniques in her comprehensive approach to patient care. After completing her residency training in internal medicine at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Dr. Stiegler served as chief resident in 2009-2010, and then joined BGSMC faculty as a teaching attending on the Academic Medical Service. In 2014, Dr. Stiegler completed a fellowship in Palliative Medicine and joined the Palliative Medicine team to work as a full-time palliative care physician.
Dr. Stiegler has special interest in biomedical ethics, healthcare equity and outreach for marginalized populations, and in physician education on the care of the terminally ill patient. She is a member of the Northern Arizona Healthcare Ethics Committee and Provider Group Advisory Council, and an Associate Professor in the department of Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Stiegler now works as Medical Director of Palliative Care and Hospice for Northern Arizona Healthcare. Her interdisciplinary team runs busy inpatient Palliative Care consult services at Flagstaff Medical Center, Sedona Cancer Center and Verde Valley Medical Center, as well as outpatient Supportive Care Clinics in Flagstaff, Cottonwood and Sedona, and comprehensive hospice services for all of Northern Arizona. Dr. Stiegler has four children ages 6-21, whom she adores. She loves all that the state has to offer, including hiking, camping, fishing and skiing, and is happiest out in the wilderness with her husky Maya.

Dr. Chad Taylor was raised in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He received his undergraduate education at Minnesota State University and graduated in 2009. Subsequently, Dr. Taylor pursued his doctorate in osteopathic medicine at A.T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona and graduated in 2013. Dr. Taylor’s passion was rural family medicine and hospitalist medicine. However, after completing his family medicine residency program in 2016, he was recruited by a dermatology practice, Mohave Skin and Cancer Clinic, in Kingman, AZ. He became a partner until the practice was sold in 2021. Dr. Taylor then returned to the only place that has felt like home, Flagstaff, AZ. He practices dermatology and family medicine at Apricus Medical Group’s Flagstaff Family Care, and is the Regional Director of Medical Education for A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Joel Terriquez is an internal medicine and infectious disease specialist who serves as medical director of infectious disease and prevention for Northern Arizona Healthcare in Flagstaff, Arizona. He is also the associate chief medical officer (CMO) for Nod Specialists, a multi-state telemedicine company.
Dr. Terriquez graduated from medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Baja California (Mexico) in 2005; His postgraduate medical education was at the University of Arizona in Tucson where he completed his training in Internal medicine (2010) and Infectious disease (2012). Dr. Terriquez had the unique opportunity to obtain additional medical training at MD Anderson in Houston and National Jewish Healthcare in Denver. He also holds a certification in infection control and hospital epidemiology (CIC). He joined Northern Arizona Healthcare in 2012 as an infectious disease consultant for Flagstaff Medical Center and Verde Valley Medical Center. Over the past decade, Dr. Terriquez has been invested in clinical work as an infectious disease consultant and medical director of infectious disease and prevention for NAH where he had the opportunity to participate on different accreditation processes through DNV and The Joint Commission. Joel supports quality initiatives, patient safety event reporting and implementation of interventions to ensure healthcare organizations provide the best care for their patients.
Joel has served as a subject matter experts and guest editor for the development of CDC guidelines for management of bioterrorism agents (plague and tularemia). He received the “Nathan Avery Physician of the Year Award” in 2017. Dr. Terriquez recently graduated from the Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership program at Harvard Medical School in early 2023.
Dr. Terriquez’s professional goal is to make a difference in the way we approach patient safety, focusing on prevention of adverse events and healthcare associated infections. He is also passionate about medical education and medical microbiology.

Megan Wasson, DO is Chair of the Department of Medical and Surgical Gynecology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. She is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and was awarded the Outstanding Emerging Educator Award in 2020. She completed her fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
Dr. Wasson is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
