The Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.
AOMA designates this program for a maximum of 12.0 hours of AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

AOMA Cancellation Policy
All refund requests must be in writing and received by July 1, 2026. A $25 processing fee will be deducted from the registration fee. Refunds will not be available after July 1, 2026. A credit for a future CME event may be issued.

Dr. Jewel Kling is a Professor of Medicine, Chair of the Division of Women’s Health Internal Medicine, Assistant Director of the Mayo Clinic Center for Women’s Health, and Suzanne Hanson Poole Dean of the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine Arizona campus in Scottsdale, Arizona. She completed medical school and a Master of Public Health at the University of Arizona, followed by Internal Medicine residency and a Chief Resident year at Mayo Clinic Arizona.
Her clinical and research interests include menopause, sexual health, LGBTQ+ care, and advancing sex- and gender-based medicine. Dr. Kling is an internationally recognized leader in menopause and women’s health, with extensive peer-reviewed publications and invited presentations at national and international meetings. She is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and a Master of the American College of Physicians (MACP), and had held leadership roles in multiple professional organizations, including the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health and The Menopause Society.
Dr. Joanna Kramer earned her BS in Biology at Ursinus College, her MPH from University of Nevada Las Vegas, and her DO degree from Touro University Nevada. She then completed an AOA/ACGME dually accredited pediatric residency and a chief residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She is a faculty physician in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Division of Primary, Complex Care, and Adolescent Medicine. She is an associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix and a clinical instructor at Mayo Alix School of Medicine Phoenix. She is core faculty for the Phoenix Children’s Pediatric Residency Program Alliance, rotation director and track director for osteopathic education, and creator of the Pediatric Osteopathic Didactic Series. She is an executive committee member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Osteopathic Pediatricians. She is passionate about resident education, osteopathic research, public health research, and quality improvement.
Sristi Nath, DO is a board-certified general and child and adolescent psychiatrist who has been in private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, since 2007. In addition to medication management, she also provides psychotherapy and promotes mind-body treatment strategies. She received a BA in Psychology at Stanford University and a D.O. Degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM). She completed her residency in general psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry through the Hawaii Residency Programs. In addition to her private practice, she has taught at AZCOM as a regular lecturing professor since 2009.
Dr. Nath’s philosophy is strongly rooted in observing the whole person and using a BioPsychoSocial formulation to inform treatment choices. Osteopathic principles, mind-body awareness, and cultural humility are incorporated into all patient care. She values her free time with her family as well as teaching and practicing vinyasa yoga.
Valerie Ruiz is the Program Manager of the Medical Resource Office (MRO) Division at the Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA). With more than two decades of experience in healthcare, she brings a wealth of clinical expertise and program management acumen to her role. Valerie holds a Master of Public Health (MPH), is a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), and maintains her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Heather Saran, DO is the founder of Bright Endocrinology, a uniquely personal direct care endocrinology practice. Her innovative approach to patient care provides individualized solutions without the barriers associated with health insurance. Her caliber of education combined with her compassionate demeanor has earned her recognition as a Top Doctor. She is an expert in advanced diabetes care, with an emphasis on diabetes technology and novel medications.
Dr. Steingart has been in Orthopedic Practice since 1988. He has two fellowship awards in Sports Medicine and Endoscopic Spine. He is a lifetime learner. His orthopedic practice encompasses general orthopedics, trauma, total joints, sports medicine, surgical and non-surgical spine, and foot. He has lectured internationally. Dr. Steingart has lectured and taught medical/physician assistants and nurses. He has recently stopped his surgical practice, and concentrates on identifying the pain generator, to better treat patients. His Practice now is limited to second opinions, Independent Medical Examinations, and chart reviews. His goal is and always was to give better care for patients.
Dr. Tariot is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry with added qualifications in geriatrics. He served as Fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Research Program, then as faculty at the University of Rochester. He has been Director of the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute in Phoenix since 2006 and is a Research Professor of Psychiatry, University of Arizona. His work has focused on care and study of people with and at risk for Alzheimer’s disease/related dementias, emphasizing design and implementation of clinical trials for prevention and treatment, biomarker development, characterization and treatment of neuropsychiatric features and demonstration of effective care. He has over 450 publications including those leading to FDA approval of new medications. He serves as co-director of the international Alzheimer’s Prevention Initiative (API). Research affiliations include the NIA, the NIMH, and the Alzheimer’s Association; he is a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
Dr. Chad Taylor was born in Fargo, North Dakota, but was raised in Eden Prairie, a suburb outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Minnesota State University in Mankato where he earned his undergraduate degree in Human Biology with Minors in Chemistry and Political Science.
After his undergraduate education, Dr. Taylor attended medical school at A.T. Still University where he received his Doctorate in Osteopathy. He was driven to osteopathy and is passionate about both osteopathic manipulative medicine and philosophy and is a proud SOMA alumnus.
During his Family Medicine residency in Kingman, AZ, Dr. Taylor was recruited to join a dermatology team with the professionals at Mohave Skin and Cancer Clinic where he practiced for 5 years. After the sale of Mohave Skin and Cancer Clinic, Dr. Taylor returned to Flagstaff and joined Optum primary care where he practices general Family Medicine with a special focus in dermatology.
Dr. Taylor recognizes he would not have become the physician he has without the outstanding training and guidance he received from his mentors and peers. Therefore, he is driven in perpetuating the teaching culture of medicine. Dr. Tayor is the Regional Director of Medical Education for ATSU-SOMA’s Northern Arizona cohort of medical students. He has received the AOMA “Outstanding Mentor Award” in 2024 for his service in this role. He offers frequent clinical rotations for second and third year residents in addition to medical students. He also serves on the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association CME committee and is an alternate delegate in the AOMA House of Delegates.
Harriet L. Turney is currently the Ombudsman for the Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA). Her office provides information to injured workers about the Workers’ Compensation system in Arizona. Harriet was the Chief Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) for the ICA from 1998-2013. As an ALJ, Harriet presided over hundreds of workers’ compensation hearings. She is a trained mediator who conducted scores of mediations at the ICA. As an attorney, she has represented both injured workers and workers’ compensation insurance carriers. Harriet served as Chief Bar Counsel for the State Bar of Arizona for 12 years, prosecuting attorneys accused of ethical misconduct. Prior to relocating to Arizona, Harriet was in private practice in Ohio. Harriet has a B.A. and M.A. from Kent State University. She earned her law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law
Jeanne Varner Powell is the Senior Legal Risk Consultant for the Mutual Insurance Company of Arizona (MICA) Risk Team. In this role, she passes on to MICA insureds what she learned during 20 years of defending medical malpractice cases. She develops written content to educate physicians, advanced practice providers, and ambulatory care practices about medical professional liability risks. She consults with insured physicians and their practices on risk management issues, risk reduction strategies, and improving patient outcomes. In addition, she contributes educational articles and presentations to local medical societies and other health care professional organizations as well as graduate medical education programs.
Prior to joining MICA in 2020, Jeanne defended hospitals, nurses, care facilities, physicians, and other health care professionals in medical malpractice cases. Outside the office, you can usually find her horseback – either exploring new country or chasing cows. She is also an avid hiker and camper.
